Genetic Services
California Cryobank has professional genetic counselors on staff to provide a range of genetic services. Our genetic counselors have graduate degrees and clinical training in medical genetics and counseling. They critically analyze the family medical histories of our donor applicants as part of the donor qualification process.
Genetic counselors are also available to answer your questions about the medical information reported on a donor's Extended Donor Profile. California Cryobank strongly recommends that clients review the Extended Donor Profile prior to making a final donor selection.
Having an experienced counselor interview and evaluate all donor applications is only the beginning of the genetic services that CCB provides. Our genetic counselors also:
- Coordinate requests for special testing that may be relevant to your pregnancy
- Provide genetic consultations to identify and explain the risks for medical problems in your offspring and the genetic tests that you may want to consider
- Notify you of significant medical issues involving your donor (or his offspring)
- May be contacted regarding updates on your donor's family history
