Our journey to mommy-hood began in the early spring of 2011, when, after years of dreaming about babies, my wife and I finally began to take steps towards getting pregnant. We began researching cryobanks in earnest, the internet and advice from friends being our tools. CCB was an easy final choice as we felt extremely confident with their ability to provide high-quality, diverse donors and an abundance of resources and support to guide us through the admittedly strange process. The CCB bulletin board became a staple for me to check daily as I leaned on lessons shared by other families to sooth my nerves.
Donor selection was quick and easy for us. A perusal of the donors made it clear that every one of the donors was handsome, smart, talented, and that a wrong decision really could not be made. We decided not to make ourselves crazy looking for specific features - we simply looked for a compatible blood type, height and someone with similar interests to us. Our perfect donor quickly emerged and with shaky voices we called CCB to make the purchase. The consultants we worked with were always pleasant and helpful, guiding us through challenges securing enough vials for the future and getting the delivery timed perfectly for ovulation. A delivery snafu was hastily and professionally corrected, making us even more confident in our decision to place such monumental trust in CCB.
After two unmedicated IUIs, we joyously learned of our pregnancy in July. Missy’s pregnancy was happy and easy. Our daughter, Ayden, arrived 11 days past her due date, healthy and more beautiful than words can describe. I look at our daughter and recognize so many features of my wife - her almond eyes and full lips. I also look at her and think of her donor, sending him thoughts of thanks for his willingness to help us grow our family. We are eternally grateful for a drama-free and peaceful experience from the very first step all the way to cradling Ayden in our arms.
