When I was 25 it seemed like all my friends were having kids and all my siblings had kids and I felt like I was missing out. It took me a couple of years to figure out how to reach my own dreams of becoming a mother.
With school behind me and a career that I loved, I decided to do some research by Googling fertility clinic's. I had never heard of a Reproductive Endocrinologist but it didn't take much research to know that was what I needed. The closest one to me was 2 hours away, so I set up an appointment for Jan 31st.
I was pleasantly surprised with the kindness of the RE as he explained the process and options to me. He told me there were several places to buy sperm, but recommended CCB because in his experience they had the best specimens and the largest quality selection. He gave me a brochure and a follow-up appointment.
I couldn't wait to get home and check out the website!
I found the donor I wanted that night. His picture was so cute and his profile was wonderful. I ordered 2 vials and had them shipped to my REs office. I decided to start with a medicated cycle as recommended by my RE to increase my chance of success. I took 5 days of Clomid and went back for a check up. The RE said my follicles were ready and he told me when to take the HCG injection to start the ovulation process. 36 hours later he performed the IUI - it took not even a minute and he was done. 11 days later I got a positive home pregnancy test and I was thrilled.
I followed up with the RE for blood work to confirm, and a few weeks later to hear the heart beat. Then he released me to my Dr. in the town where I lived. I had a wonderful pregnancy and delivered a beautiful healthy baby boy. I took him home and could not stop staring at him. I couldn't believe how beautiful he was and that he was all mine.
As a single mom I felt so blessed that I was able to have a little angel of my own. He was an easy baby and always smiling and laughing. After he turned 2, I started thinking about the other vial I had at my REs office. So a month before his 3rd birthday, I decided it was time to give him a sister or brother, so as I was planning his birthday party I was also in the Two Week Wait.
3 days after my son's birthday I got a positive home pregnancy test, I couldn't believe it took on the first try again. I recently found out I am having a girl and I couldn't be happier. I thought I would never get a chance to be a mother and now I will have two little angels.
I thank CCB for the wonderful work they do in selecting quality donors and the screening process they go through. I feel peace of mind knowing that I offered my children the best possible genetics. I love CCB!
